Advantages of using the electronic transmission system
It is possible to process a report within approximately one week as the delivery period is significantly reduced.
Documents for reporting can be supplemented quickly because they are also processed electronically.
How to use the electronic transmission system
A reporting person who intends to use the electronic transmission system shall submit an application for electronic transmission to the relevant overseas Korean diplomatic mission along with a report for the family relation registration.
Certification Service through the Computerized Information Processing Organization System
What is the certification service through the computerized information processing organization system?
Korean nationals or former Korean nationals residing abroad, their spouses, and lineal blood relatives may apply for a certificate for each of the registered matters concerning family relations at overseas Korean diplomatic
missions with jurisdiction over their residence.
Upon receiving the applications, the staff of the overseas Korean diplomatic missions scans the documents and sends them to the Family Register Office for Overseas Koreans in South Korea via computerized information processing organization .
The office reviews the application, issues the relevant certificate, and sends it back to the overseas Korean diplomatic missions via computerized information processing organization so applicants can receive it.
The service mentioned above is available at all overseas Korean diplomatic missions.
The service is available at 171 overseas Korean diplomatic missions providing consular services in 120 countries (as of July 2024).
